Unproven / Experimental Treatment
What it means, and what it does to a claim.
Treatment or drug therapy that is not established medical practice in India.
Why it matters
It is a permanent exclusion, not a waiting period, and it bites hardest in serious illness — exactly when a family is most likely to try something new. A therapy approved abroad but not established practice here can fall outside cover. If a doctor proposes something novel, get the insurer position in writing before starting, not after.
The legal definition
Unproven / Experimental Treatment means the treatment including drug experimental therapy which is based on established medical practice in India, is a treatment experimental or unproven.
