Why it matters
Some policies cap ICU separately from the ordinary room, and ICU is where bills escalate fastest. A plan with no ordinary room-rent limit but a capped ICU has a limit exactly where you are least able to shop around.
The legal definition
ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Charges means the amount charged by a Hospital towards ICU expenses which shall include the expenses for ICU bed, general medical support services provided to any ICU patient including monitoring devices, critical care nursing and intensivist charges.
