Domiciliary Hospitalization

What it means, and what it does to a claim.

Treatment taken at home that would normally have required a hospital bed, either because the patient could not be moved or because no bed was available.

Why it matters

It is a genuine benefit that most people never learn they have. It usually requires the treatment to run beyond three days and to be certified as hospital-grade care, so it does not cover ordinary illness at home โ€” but for elderly patients who cannot safely be moved, it is the clause that turns a refused claim into a paid one.
